Cindy Funkhouser

Cynthia Funkhouser, MSW

Cindy is the CEO of the Sulzbacher Center, the largest homeless resource provider in Northeast FL. She has also served there as the Vice President of Health Services and the Chief Program Officer. Prior to this she served as the Executive Director of Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry in Jacksonville Beach, a faith-based organization that provides emergency assistance for beaches families in crisis.  Cindy graduated from Florida State University with a master’s degree in clinical social work in 2003. She holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology from George Mason University. In Cindy’s first career she was a Sales and Marketing professional for a Fortune 500 company for over 20 years. She was involved with public schools for over 10 years through PTA, SAC and Coaching. Cindy has been, and remains, a member of many boards and committees. In 2014, she received the Jacksonville Business Journal Ultimate CEO Award and was a member of Leadership Jacksonville’s Class of 2014. In 2018, she was honored with the Times-Union EVE Award, and in 2019, she received the Florida Medical Association Distinguished Layperson of the Year Award. In 2023, Cindy was awarded the OneJax Humanitarian Award. Cindy has been married for over 30 years and has two adult sons and two granddaughters.
