Comprehensive Healthcare to Anyone in the Community in Need
Ana Turner, MD, DFAPA
Dr. Turner is a graduate of UF College of Medicine and completed residency through the UF Gainesville Department of Psychiatry. When her mentor, Dr. Richard Christensen, passed away suddenly in 2015 she began covering his clinic once a week and realized that was where her true passion lay. She now serves as Duval Family Health Center’s Behavioral Health Director, is the main provider for both the Mental Health Offenders Program and Homeless Outreach Project Expansion and is an Associate Professor with UF Gainesville College of Medicine(UFCOM)Department of Psychiatry. She teaches several courses at UF COM and serves as co-director of The Dr. Richard Christensen Community Psychiatry Fellowship. Her most unique responsibility throughout both sites is street psychiatry. This involves literally meeting patients where they are with a “mobile” office, finding those most marginalized in our society to treat them in the field. For her work with street psychiatry, she has been interviewed by several journals, has presented a TEDx talk, and received the UF College of Medicine’s Hippocratic Award, the college’s highest award for clinical teaching among all UF Gainesville and UF Jacksonville clinical faculty.
